Dissolution of Oakwood Residents Association, June 2022

Following a recent meeting of ORA's elected officers, and backed unanimously by the ORA committee, it has been decided that the ORA will be dissolved.

We have struggled as a small group of passionate people to have enough time and resource over the last few months to do everything we would've hoped to achieve and in spite of much hard work have failed to inspire the rest of Oakwood to join us in our vision to create a better community.

Recent initiatives such as the Jubilee Peace Garden received little engagement and the constant negativity of social media towards our best efforts has left us demoralized and jaded.

This decision has not been an easy one and has not been taken lightly, however, Covid has impacted the community greatly, and it has been hard to keep momentum in a world where restrictions changed so quickly that we were unable to plan events to bring us together.

Friends of Oakwood Parks and Green Spaces will now fall under a newly formed informal group called Oakwood Conservation Group which will be headed up by Rob Taylor and directed by local councillors.

The Jubilee Scarecrow Trail will be our last activity on 10-12th June.

It is our intention that ORA activity will cease on 13th June 2022.

Thank you.

Alex, Liz & Liz (Elected officers) and the ORA Committee
